Inside Our Holiday 2010 Issue ...
Bright and Merry
For most people, Christmas comes only once a year. However, here at The Quilter, Christmas is a year-long affair. No sooner does our annual holiday issue ship to the printer, than we start planning the next one! Fabric manufacturers, too, plan early. Many holiday collections ship to quilt shops in spring and summer—which makes it easy for quilters to get a head start on their projects.
Quilting for Christmas has always been a blend of elegant and whimsical, and this year's issue is no exception. For example, Christmas at Fancy Hill and Winter Roses reflect a traditional approach to the season, while Sugar & Spice, Woodland Christmas, and Here Comes Santa reflect the lighter side. Those who are short on time might enjoy making a few of our smaller accessories, such as the Christmas Tote or Mr. Sparkle. Be sure to check out the Photo Finish as well. Quilt designer Jenny Novinsky created a colorful Advent calendar, which is being offered as a free project here.
We've got an interesting mix of articles too. Once we saw Teri Embrey's folk art Santas with their patchwork quilts, we were hooked and knew that we just had to share them with everyone. And please don't miss reading about Tis the Season, the largest year-round Christmas store in Ohio, located in the heart of Amish country.
From all of us here at The Quilter to all of our readers everywhere, may your holidays be merry and your winter season as bright as your quilts!
